• Basic principle of non-thermal plasma is that electron temperature and gas temperature differ greatly, electron temperature far greater in magnitude.
  • Telectron > 30,000K and Tgas >500k 
• High energy electrons collide with gas molecules and the impact produces radicals and ions.
• These radicals oxidize SO2 and NO to SO3 and NO2 which reacts with water vapour to produce H2SO4 and HNO3 and break down Volatile Organic Compound bonds which promote the formation of CO & CO2.
